The contentious Washoe County District 5 race is now down to two candidates: Republican incumbent Jeanne Herman and Democratic challenger Edwin Lyngar.
Nonpartisan Krysta Jackson did not qualify to be on November’s ballot.
“Nonpartisan candidates for partisan races have to collect a certain number of signatures; the number depends on the race/size of the district,” county spokesperson Bethany Drysdale told the RGJ by email. “She did not submit any signatures and therefore does not qualify to be on the ballot.”
Herman won the Republican primary with 45% of the vote in a heated race with Wendy Leonard, who received 40%. Richard Molezzo got 15%.
